Quick Note: I simply cannot imagine why my stats spike so dramatically every time I post photographs but it’s become an obvious trend that whenever I do, the Facebook community cannot seem to stop themselves from visiting… I always appreciate the boost, though, so merci beaucoup, Facebookers! Thanks, also to WordPress, for letting me know the referrer so I always know who to thank. 🙂
Last night after dinner (DAY SIX in our Dinner at Home marathon), we planned to chase our little granddaughter around the house for few hours until we were too exhausted and needed naps. The Bean, however, was feeling under the weather and her mama kept her home. Bummer, right? But we used the time instead to draw out our 2013 garden and figure out what’s going away this year and what’s being added. A swingset seems pertinent, with some kind of fort we think. Then we figured we could watch a little TV until bedtime – not terribly exciting except we watched an hour of something called Extreme Cheapskates and oh. my. gosh. people are just WEIRD. Peeing in a bottle so I can carry said pee into the backyard isn’t something I’m likely to ever do. Likewise bringing home cake from a dumpster. No judgement if that’s your thing, it’s just not really the kind of enlightened I am… I’m also not likely to start haggling at the gas station for better per-gallon prices.
In more exciting news, a rather lengthy meeting yesterday determined that I’m going to be using some of my superpowers for good – I’m advocating for the "little guy" and drafting a philosophy which will *hopefully* help sway some of my peers to view donations to be as viable a part of our core beliefs as grants are known to be. Giving shouldn’t always necessarily be evidence-based, but sometimes done because it’s the right thing to do. Anyway, speaking in public is something I’ve always enjoyed and it looks like I’ll get to do quite a bit of that in the next few months, too. Suffice it to say that the spirit of corporate citizenship is alive and well in my office and it’s time to share the wealth (literally and figuratively speaking).
Today should be about as hectic as usual, but I think I’m going to leave work a bit early. I’d love to finally get my hair cut, since I didn’t have time last night and Wednesday I got the oil changed/tires rotated instead. Sometimes it’s best to do the responsible things FIRST, and then the fun things. I figure it’s worth having a car that runs consistently so I stay on top of the maintenance. I halfway planned to drive to the country, but since they got nailed with so much snow, I really don’t want to have to shovel the quarter-mile driveway for 3 days if I get stuck. That only has to happen once for a girl to reconsider gunning it through 2′ drifts to make it up the drive… In any case, I’ll likely head that way next weekend and this weekend I can get a few things done in town.
Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.
