Yesterday we celebrated my grandparents’ 67 year wedding anniversary. We had potato kale enchiladas, a gorgeous fruit tart with an oat crust and best of all, a rather liquored-up cake. Yum! It’s always so nice to spend time with my family! š
My grandmother is 87 years old and has senile dementia so she gets a bit foggy – she said the cutest thing. “They call me Sandwich.” She meant that at the beauty parlor, whenever she stands up, they tell her she pops up like a piece of toast – meaning she’s quick. But she translated it to the ladies calling her ‘Sandwich,’ and she seemed rather pleased with that so we just left it alone.
Grandpa is always happy to be surrounded by all his girls, so yesterday was fun for him, I think. Any anniversary if a big deal, but 67 years of wedded bliss is just about unheard of these days so us celebrating in style seemed very important.
Now today, after yesterday’s party and today’s trip to Lafayette, we’re all plum tuckered out! Hope y’all are having a good start to your week and hopefully this quick post finds you hale and hearty and in happy spirits.
